Being a parent is hard work. Between school, soccer practice, and bedtime, it can feel like you are managing a million things.
We see a lot of families, and here are a few things we wish parents knew when it comes to caring for your children.
An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure
Vaccines, checkups, healthy food, and exercise are not just for today, they help prevent problems later. Daily healthy habits add up and make a big difference over time.
Fevers
Most fevers are not harmful. Fever is part of the body fighting infection. If your child is 2 months or younger and has a fever, please call us immediately.
Here are some tips to review before calling us when the office is closed.

We are here every day!
We have same-day sick visits available every day. While it may be more convenient to walk into an urgent care center, it is not always the best option for children. Some of the clinics are staffed with medical personnel who have no pediatric training. Call us! Our nurses are happy to assess whether your child needs a sick visit or if the symptoms can be treated at home.
If you wait long enough, it will pass.
Parenting is full of phases that can feel endless in the moment, but they rarely are. If you can hold on with a bit of patience, most stages—good or difficult—shift and pass with time, often sooner than anticipated.
Trust Your Gut
You know your child best. If something seems wrong, like a sudden change in behavior, appetite, or energy, don’t wait for the next checkup. We want to hear your concerns.
Sick Does Not Always Mean Scary
Kids get sick a lot. Fevers, coughs, and rashes are normal. Most of the time, they are minor, and we see hundreds of kids with the same symptoms every year. Staying calm, keeping your child comfortable, and following care tips usually helps them bounce back quickly.
Your Grandparent Knows More Than You Think
Someone who’s raised kids usually has a deep sense of what children need. A lot of that knowledge isn’t something people can easily explain step by step—it’s built from years of patterns, mistakes, and small observations. People who’ve done this for years often carry a kind of “quiet expertise” you don’t get from books. Pay attention to the small, unspoken interactions such as when a grandparent chooses to step in versus letting a kid figure something out for themselves. Those details are where a lot of the real skill lives.
You’ve Got This!
Parenting is tough, and we see the love and effort you put in every day. Even when it feels overwhelming, you are making a real difference in your child’s life. Keep celebrating the little wins, asking questions, and showing up. You have got this!
Thank you for trusting us with the care and health of your family! It’s an honor to be a part of their healthcare journey!
